This week's Missionary

This week's Travels

China

Map of China

  • China has the largest population in the world.
  • The Great Wall of China is the largest man made structure in the world, stretching an incredible 8,850 kilometres (5,500 miles).
  • The capital city is Beijing, while the most populated city is Shanghai.
  • The famous Giant Panda is found near the Yangtze River, which is the longest in Asia and the  fourth longest river in the world.
  • Eighty percent, of the world's toys, are made in China,
  • Some people enjoy eating specialties like a bird nest soup, frog, snake, scorpion and dog.
  • The Chinese call Mcdonald's "Maidanglao", which approximates the sound and indicates that there is food made of wheat there (the hamburger buns).
  • While cars are increasingly popular, many Chinese people still ride bikes to work.
  • It is not uncommon for children to keep crickets or cicadas as pets in small wooden cages.
  • To stop population growth the government, has employed a one-child policy. This means very few children grow up with brothers or sisters.
  • In ancient China, exporting silkworms used to be illegal and punishable by death! Two monks smuggled silk out of the country around 550 AD by hiding the silkworm eggs in their walking sticks.

This week's Song

By Faith
Keith & Kristyn Getty

By faith we see the hand of God
In the light of creation's grand design
In the lives of those who prove His faithfulness
Who walk by faith and not by sight

By faith our fathers roamed the earth
With the power of His promise in their hearts
Of a holy city built by God's own hand
A place where peace and justice reign

We will stand as children of the promise
We will fix our eyes on Him our soul's reward
Till the race is finished and the work is done
We'll walk by faith and not by sight

By faith the prophets saw a day
When the longed-for Messiah would appear
With the power to break the chains of sin and death
And rise triumphant from the grave

By faith the church was called to go
In the power of the Spirit to the lost
To deliver captives and to preach good news
In every corner of the earth

We will stand...

By faith this mountain shall be moved
And the power of the gospel shall prevail
For we know in Christ all things are possible
For all who call upon His name

We will stand...

This week's Verse

James 1:25
But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

1. Looking into the perfect law (reading the Bible)
2. Continuing to do it
3. Not forgetting what we hear
4. Not just hearing but also doing.

This week at the Zoo

The Ostrich
Ostriches live in the wild in Africa
They never need to drink water because they produce it internally and they also get it from their food
Ostriches never need to drink water because they produce it internally and they also get it from their food
Its the largest bird in the whole world
Ostriches can not fly instead they run
An ostrich only has two toes and one claw on each foot
Ostriches eat roots, leaves, insects, flowers, grass and fruit
An ostrich has the largest egg it can be 6 inches long and weigh 3 pounds
The liquid inside 1 ostrich egg is equal to about 24 chicken eggs.
